Happy Labor Day! I hope you all are resting, relaxing & enjoying family. September is a loaded month for us in our home this year.

Our little sunshine Julia will be turning 4 years old this week. I can’t say it enough, she’s a gift from God to our family. God is gracious! He knew we needed Julia in our lives. This year in honor of juju’s birthday we are opening a little neighborhood library in-front of our house. (Big thanks to our master craftsman daddy Jeremy❤️) see below.

This month is also Children Cancer Awareness month. The color that represents this cause is GOLD. Few facts I’ve leaned; “Gold symbolizes a precious metal of the highest worth. There is nothing more precious and valuable than our children, so gold is the perfect color to represent childhood cancer awareness.” & “About 5 percent of all cancers in children are caused by an inherited mutation (a genetic mutation that can be passed from parents to their children). Most cancers in children, like those in adults, are thought to develop as a result of mutations in genes that lead to uncontrolled cell growth and eventually cancer.”   There is more  research & study that has to be done. A question that I’m sure haunts every parent affected by this Illness is, could I have prevented this? How? Etc.

Julia was part of an Immuno target Theraphy  research study, and it was determine she didn’t qualify for this, as she is low risk. Therefore she is following standard of care.

This week, Julia’s progress has been impressive. Her oncologist pleasantly surprised her with an early birthday present by allowing her to postpone the commencement of the upcoming treatment phase, ‘Interim Intensification,’ until September 12th. This thoughtful decision enables her to enjoy her birthday week to the fullest. Additionally, the scheduling adjustment entails pushing back her first lumbar puncture to the 15th day instead of the initial day, ensuring her brain receives a well-deserved 10-week period of rest. This extended interval is particularly crucial as she encountered a seizure following her last lumbar puncture.

This new phase is a 9 week treatment, with 4 schedule hospitalizations. They will administer a high dose chemo over 24 hour period, under hospital care. Two lumbar puncture chemotherapies. Daily oral chemo through the whole phase, and other new medications to help with toxicity & prophylactic care, plus potential blood product transfusions.

Prayer request;

• Tomorrow we are in clinic for blood work, her chest port/needle  will get access  & de-access please pray it goes smooth, for blood to flow & draw easily.

• Appetite to improve this week.

• Wisdom & patience for the medical team as they care for juju.

• For our family to enjoy the calm of this week, to treasure our little and get prepared for the start of next phase.
