Tuesday 12/19 update - 11pm
Yesterday our little sunshine started Phase 4 - Delay Intensification treatment. It consists of 8 weeks of treatment. She got a total of 3 chemotherapies yesterday & started steroids, and other meds. In the pictures above she was wiped out by the time we returned home. She just laid on the floor watching the snow globes & relaxed on mama's belly.
In her Oncologist's words, "this is the phase where all the hard work happens, this is where we see the light at the end of the tunnel". This phase is hard, as the name describes 'intensification', we have to watch for fevers indicating any infection developing. This opens us to the risk of potential hospitalizations. She will be susceptible to viruses & bacteria due to her immune system hitting very low points, therefore we have to continue isolating her.
We need your prayers. We're beyond grateful you are with us in this journey, lifting our little sunshine to the Lord! We are asking for her body to fight and be strong. Protection from any infections from virus/bacterias, for her appetite to remain well, healing rest through the nights, and wisdom for her doctors and medical team. Today Julia is showing a few signs of a cold, sneezing & runny nose. Praying this doesn't develop into anything serious and that she can overcome this bug.
We're so glad Julia got to have a little bit of fun before her treatment started. Last Friday the hospital had a Christmas party for the Oncology families and it was a very special event. Lot's of activities, surprises & her lovely medical team. Then on Sunday our neighborhood celebrated the holiday season by doing an annual Luminary night. Juju got to hang out for a little bit with a few friends outside. We are surrounded by wonderful caring neighbors. You are welcome to check out the 50 second video of our luminary night!
Christmas is 6 days away! Our advent calendar day 17th reading was about Mary & Joseph traveling to Bethlehem for the census. Mary riding on a donkey, the activity along was to grab a wood broom/stick and pretend we were riding on a donkey. Well, I played the donkey to make it more fun. Julia was Mary and she stuffed a squishmallow in her belly and had a couple of blankets as a dress and head covering. Let me tell you... she had the time of her life riding on my back while we traveled through the living room knocking on doors looking for room in the inns. Sorry there are no picture or videos of her riding on this donkey. She is so excited, anticipating the celebration of Jesus's birth on Christmas Day. It's precious to watch.
”All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census. And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. He took with him Mary, to whom he was engaged, who was now expecting a child.“
Luke 2:3-5 NLT
Wishing you many blessings this week as you prepare to celebrate Christmas in your own home!
Our hope is in the Lord!
